Fan pleat
Fan pleats consist of folds on evenly spaced, marked lines that are secured at the top edge. The distance between the marked lines is called the pleat depth. A fan pleat is a variation of the box pleat and is generally used on only lighter-weight fabrics. Fan pleats consist of two or more box pleats placed above each other to form a fan-shape. For a fan pleat, with wrong sides together, match the outer marked lines of the pleat and pin. Fold along the remaining line to form a fan shape behind the first folds. Baste across top of all folds to secure. Press the pleat flat, making sure the centre folds are aligned and centred between the side folds of the pleat.
