Bias Binding

Cut and piece together bias strips to equal the length of the project edge. Cut strips four times the desired finished width.  Pre-made bias is available in different widths. Cut the end of the bias strip at a 45° angle. Fold the strip in half lengthwise and press. Open the strip and fold the raw edges inward, so that one edge aligns with the crease and the other edge lies 1/16"-1/8"(2 mm) away from the crease. Press edges. Re-fold on the original crease and press. Open the bias tape out flat. With right sides together, align the raw edge of the wider fold with the edge of the project. Pin in place, easing in curves and metering corners.  Stitch along the fold line closest to the raw edge. Fold in the remaining raw edge. Fold bias to back of project. Pin in place, easing in curves and metering corners. From the right side, stitch close to the inner edge of the bias. Optional: Use the Narrow Edge Foot to "stitch in the ditch" between the bias and main fabric for an invisible seam.
