Sew and cut
Skrevet af Carina Thavelin
This is a “piecing” technique where you sew and cut the fabric as you go.
You start with four squares of fabric, 6x6cm (2.5”x2.5”)
-
Put the squares on a foundation fabric and sew the raw edges together with a three step zig-zag or a decorative stitch.

-
Cut the pieces in half as shown in picture and switch place.

-
Sew them together again.

-
Cut them in half in the other direction and change place again.

-
Sew them together.
Now you have a nice piece of fabric 12x12cm (5”x5”). Continue with the same technique and create as many pieces as you like/need and sew them together to create a large pieced fabric.
In the main picture it was used in a quilt and with a more irregular size of squares. I can’t wait to use it in a garment.
Try it…it’s so much fun!
