OR the machine letter codes for accessories can be found in the online accessory catalog, which can be accessed at the bottom of the Accessories Page. Find the letter code (A-K) that represents your machine from the list and use it to ensure you are selecting the correct bobbins for your machine. -
Where can my machine be taken to have it serviced under warranty?
If you purchased your machine from an authorized PFAFF® dealer, you can take your machine to the dealer from which the machine was purchased for warranty work to be performed. Any PFAFF dealer can provide warranty repairs on a machine, but the dealer who sold the machine covers the labor portion for the parts and labor warranty. If you purchased your machine at PFAFF.com, please take your machine to the PFAFF Store you selected as your preferred location during checkout. If you were signed in when you made that purchase, your preferred location can be found in your account profile. It was also included in your order shipment status emails (guest and registered shoppers).

Do the PFAFF® machines have inch markings on their needle plates?
Yes, our PFAFF sewing and embroidery machines come standard with inch markings on the needle plates.

Where can I find sewing projects for my PFAFF® machine?
Simply select “Get Creative” in the Main Menu, then choose “Projects”. This will allow you to see all projects OR select certain criteria to filter results specific for your type of machine.

How often do I need to oil my PFAFF® machine?
Most PFAFF machines are self-lubricating machines and do not require additional lubrication (with the exception of the PowerQuilter™ p3, powerquilter™ 16.0, GrandQuilter™ 18.8 and GrandQuilter™.
In addition to these, the select 4.2 requires oiling by the consumer as does the SMARTER BY PFAFF™ C1100 Pro). We recommend taking your PFAFF machine to your local authorized PFAFF® dealer once a year for a cleaning and tune up. -

My older PFAFF® machine has batteries. How do I replace the batteries in my machine and where are they located?
Plug in your machine and turn it on. On the bottom of your machine there is a panel that you remove to access the batteries. Replace the batteries with 2 AA batteries. They must be leak-proof batteries.

What is the purpose of presser foot pressure?
This helps in how different types and weights of fabric will feed through the machine. For example, for thicker/heavier fabric, it is recommended that you increase the pressure.

How do I find the version number of my machine's firmware?
In order to access the firmware information in your machine it will be necessary to go into the Info menu and then into personal info and the firmware version will be displayed there.

Can I update my machine from home?
Yes, your machine can be updated from your home computer. On the PFAFF® website, select "Support" then “Machine Manuals & Updates” from the main navigation. Choose your machine from the drop down list. Then download the update as instructed

How often should I change the needle on my PFAFF® sewing/embroidery machine?
For constant quality stitching, the needle on your machine should be changed after at least 16 hours of sewing

How do I correct my thread tension when the bobbin thread is being pulled to the top of my fabric?
This issue is caused by your bobbin tension so make sure you have the correct bobbin. Try reinserting the bobbin into the bobbin case and then put your finger on the bobbin so it cannot move then when you pull the thread into the tension on the bobbin case the thread will be pulled firmly into the tension on the bobbin case. This should resolve that issue.

How do I correct my thread tension when the top thread is looping on the back of my fabric?
When there is looping on the back side of the fabric the first step is to rethread your machine making sure that the presser foot is raised. When the presser foot is raised it opens the tension assembly to receive the thread. Then as you thread the machine as you bring the thread down into the tension assembly floss the thread back and forth to assure that the thread is well seated in the tension unit. This technique will often correct the issue with the looping.

How do I correct thread nesting on the backside of my fabric?
This is usually a sign that the upper thread tension path has not been threaded correctly. It is recommended that you rethread the upper tension of the machine.

Can I get replacement parts for my embroidery hoop?
The latch on the embroidery hoop can be replaced. You will need to contact your local PFAFF® dealer to purchase those replacement items. Any other issues with the hoop will require replacing the complete hoop.

How do I know if a presser foot can be used with the IDT™ system?
If the foot has a squared out opening at the back of the foot, it can be used with the IDT™ system.

How do I know which size/type of needle is best for my project?
Needles come in varying sizes. The smaller sizes are for fine fabrics and fine threads and the larger sizes are for heavier fabrics and thicker threads. Choose the size needle according to the type of fabric you are sewing on.

The warranty on PFAFF® machines is only for the original owner of the machine and does not transfer to another owner.
