Beginner Sewing Project – DIY Wire Headband
By adding gauge wire to your sewn head band you will get a different style with a slight fifties vibe. It can be done in any type of fabric and style, give it a try!
To sew this DIY Wire Headband you will need:
- PFAFF passport™ 2.0 sewing machine or similar
- A strip of fabric, about 80x12cm (31"x5")
- Gauge wire 90cm (35")
- Pliers
- Sewing thread matching fabric
Fold the fabric in half lengthwise and sew a straight stitch seam, leaving a 5cm opening to turn it right side out. Start and end with a curve, see illustration.
Trim the excess fabric, leaving a 5mm (1/4") seam allowance.Turn inside out and press the edges. Create a loop in both edges of the gauge wire, the finished length should be as long as the fabric piece.
Insert the wire in the fabric and close the opening with a straight stitch.
Done! Hope you like it!
