B. - Fabric for lining
E, F - Leather (or faux leather) in two colors (templates are available as downloads)
G, H - Tear-a-way stabilizer
I. - Snaps (size 13mm), 9 are used for this bag, if you’re making several flaps, you need more buttons.

Decorate and Sew the Flap Lid
6. Place tear-a-way stabilizer behind the leather circles (E in the cutting scheme). Use a straight stitch to sew circular patterns on the circles.

Repeat with the purple half circles (F in the cutting scheme).

Remove the excess stabilizer.

Tip: When sewing leather or vinyl, it is a helpful to use a non-stick presser foot. Due to the special coating on the bottom of this foot, it‘s perfect for sewing hard-to-feed fabrics, like leather, foam, plastic, imitation leather and plastic-coated fabrics. Check out pfaff.com to find the item number for the non-stick foot suitable for your machine.

Install the Snaps
10. The flap is attached to the bag with snaps so that it can easily be removed and replaced with another flap. Snaps should be evenly spaced along the upper edge of the flap. Our measurements are shown in the illustration below. We used 9 snaps, install them following the instructions included in the package.

11. Use the same measurements to install the second half of the snap on the bag. See illustration below.
